Silly question. I have a 2012 child theme which I edit through the Appearance>Editor. I then discovered Jetpack CSS Editor and set that up. Can I use both? I have noticed that what I add to Jetpack does not seem to apply. It shows up in blue text in the editor window and does nothing to the front end. Thanks for helping a newcomer.

Yes, you can theoretically use both – though it may be harder to keep track of the CSS code you’ve added. Personally, I’d stick with one or the other. Are you clicking update and then clearing any browser and site caching?

I just made it work! I had an extra word in there. I find the jetpack is a good tutor for learning CSS. If I keep my child theme as my basis but make my css edits in jetpack would that be a realistic plan? I did read somewhere that Jetpack can slow your site down, and that would be a concern. Thanks!

What do you mean by that?

Just that I don’t trash the child theme and go back to the “theme.”
