Can I write equation using markdown ?

    Hi I want to display the equations on my wordpress.

    THe equation is as follows:

    s\mathcal{L}(\alpha)+ \frac{\partial \mathcal{L}(\alpha)}{\partial x} = \mathcal{L}(C)+ \frac{1}{4} \frac{\partial^2\mathcal{L}(C)}{\partial x^2}

    I tried to use $ symbol before and after the equation but it doesn’t work. Has anyone had any success with the equation on wordpress using the markdown plugin ?

    So far, I am very satisfied with markdown plugin and is very user friendly. THanks for creating this.
