• Hi there! I feel silly asking this question…but…

I know you can read blog posts in a feed reader like Feedly, which is free.
I know our WordPress blog already has a feed set up.

Question – In order for someone to read my blog posts in a reader, do I have to burn a feed to a feedburner (like FeedBlitz)? Or, if I don’t go and burn the feed to a burning program like that, can they still enter in my blog url and see the posts in their reader?

Can’t I just have an RSS icon on my site that someone can click to add it to the reader…or is there indeed SOMETHING I must do on my end to make that possible? THANK YOU!!

  • WordPress automatically generates a feed – so people using a reader of some sort can just enter your url and find it. And yes, you can just post a link with an icon if you like.

Feedburner or FeedBlitz are tools that allow you to have more control over your feed and also to see stats on it. If you just link to your feed, you don’t have that added functionality – but you may not want it.

There are lots of WordPress plugins that allow you various features regarding your feeds – check out http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/. But again, that may just be more than you’re looking for.
