I have had to move my blog from one domain to another.

    I read these instructions:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

I have copied the wordpress files to the new space and the database has been restored.

However the problem is the URL was not changed to the new one before the wordpress files where copied off the old webspace.

I should also mention that the old domain is now no longer available due to expiring.

What would be the best course of action from here to restore my blog? I have a copy of the original database and wordpress files.

    Many thanks

  • If you mean you need to change the WordPress address and the Blog address that is normally accessible in Options->General, then might need to use phpMyAdmin to make the changes.

    See http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

Many thanks for your swift response. I have actually just found out that the domain hasn’t expired and I still have access for 48 hours before it will be removed. So I will try and upload the files back to the old domain and change the URL correctly this time.

If that doesnt work I will follow your suggestions.

It was my own fault for not changing the URL in the first place, I was in a rush and was doing other things too so I only have myself to blame.

    Again many thanks.
