I am seeking the steps to upload wp-content. I don’t know what to do

What do you mean when you say you deleted them? Manually deleted from the site itself?

he/she deleted the directory and files w/i — you can tell if you click through the link in the profile.

I deleted the file from the hosting account

Did you delete it before it was backed up? If your hosting service backs up up files at night it may be possible to get (and pay for) a restore. Otherwise you need to create a new installation elsewhere and copy the files, plus anything you uploaded (images, plugins, themes). If it’s a brand new installation it may be easier to just delete everything and start again.

    clephro,

you can download the wordpress zip for the version you installed, extract the contents, and reupload wp-content and everything inside it. If you are using a theme that you obtained from somewhere else you will need to go get it again, and re-upload it as well. The same applies to plugins you might have previously installed.

You DO NOT need to create a new installation in order to upload files.

If you would like, I will be happy to upload the necessary files for you, you can email me at whoo AT village-idiot DOT org .. please understand that in order for me to do so I would need your ftp info, login and password

    Hi whooami,
I deleted all the wordpress information from my hostgator account. Can I work on the word press without loosing my site. Previously, I had wordpress set up in the root directory, thus when I typed http://www.sevensteps.ws in the browser, the wordpress page came up and it did not make much sense. I am not sure if you are familiar with Stephen Pierce’s PRISE CD. I would love to install the wordpress but I need my site to function while I develop the wordpress site.

If you can help. Tell me and I would be very grateful.

I don’t know if you understand what I am saying. I am not familiar with the technical terms and I operate for the most part with trial and error, loosing alot in the process but learning somewhat in the process.

I am at skype at clephro or my e-mail is clephro@candw.ag

    Thanks
    Clephro

you mean can you work on your site and leave that page up there? Yes, you can. Install WordPress into a sub directory and you’re good to go.

Im not going to e-mail you though — it’s your responsibility to contact me if you want me to do the install for you. 🙂 Again, I will need your ftp information to do it.

Oh, and since you deleted all the files, I would also need your MySQL information for the wp-config.php

clephro, sorry for any confusion, by “elsewhere” I meant on your PC so you could just FTP the files… not another site.
