• I have sectioned my blog into several different “mini-sites.” Each mini-site is basically a top-level category, and each mini-site has the same sub-categories (notes, features, etc.).

I just noticed a HUGE problem. It seems WP 2.3 isn’t allowing for any sub-category to have the same slug.

I used to be able to have “mysite.com/category/firsttopic/notes” and also “mysite.com/category/secondtopic/notes” — now, it’s changed itself to “mysite.com/category/secondtopic/notes-2” – you cannot edit the “-2” away, as it just reverts.

I’m having trouble finding similar reports in the support forum, probably because this is a more uncommon implementation. I don’t think it’s a plugin issue, or due to some development done after the 2.3 upgrade (I’ve done pretty much nothing else after the upgrade) – it really seems like a bug in the core app.

Please and thank you – any and all input on this is welcome!

I found the trac ticket that addresses this issue: http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5034.

And, it shows plain n’ clear that somebody will get around to it in 2.4.

So, I guess that’s that. I’m a bit disappointed that this isn’t being given more prompt attention, but understand that it’s one issue within a very large project.
