I just upgraded to the version 2.3, it works great. I just have a quick question:

According to the instruction, I have to delete all the old files (I just renamed it), and uploaded the new ones, then run the upgrade.php. However if I do that, I will loose all the plug-ins, themes, etc. For my upgraded, I had to re-applied all the plug-ins, themes, etc.

So what’s the best way to do so?

  • If you are not using a default theme. then just delete everthing *but* /wp-contents/ and you shouldn’t lose anything.

I just tried to upgrade to 2.3, but it wiped out my site. Yes, I followed the directions. lol

    Help?

If it wiped out your site, sounds like you might have used a different $tableprefix in your wp-config.php file.

Check your database with phpMyAdmin to see if you have for that one set of tables.

Fortunately, since you followed the directions, you have a backup of your database that you could restore if necessary.

Check your database with phpMyAdmin to see if you have for that one set of tables.

Not sure what you mean. 🙂

You dont’ understand about phpMyAdmin or what tables to look for.

If you don’t have phpMyAdmin in your control panel, ask your host for a list of that tables that are in your database–do you have two sets of tables? WordPress has 10 tables.

Yes, I do understand phpMyAdmin. I have no control panel so I use phpMyAdmin to work with my databases.

Anyway, thank you… but I’ve gotten it fixed 🙂

Sorry, that came off a little snotty. Apologies.

    What was your solution?

    Apology accepted 🙂

The problem was that one of my other scripts was conflicting with wordpress. So, I had my host find me a work around. Now it works great… and he installed the new upgrade, too.

    Gotta love my host 🙂
