  • Try changing the permissions of the /wp-content/uploads/ directory to 777.

hi, i have found the location of it in settings-> uploading files-> store uploads in this folder and it says wp-content/uploads
how do i change it to 777 ..? should i just type in 777 in place of wp-content/uploads

i did replace the wp-content/uploads with -rwxrwxrwx
and it still is stuck at the same point with the same error

Hmm thats odd 777 should work. A reason why 755 might not work is because of the settings of your host so you could speak with them and they may be able to sort the problem.

How did you change the mode to 777 did you do it through an FTP?

i replaced wp-content/uploads with -rwxrwxrwx and this is how i think i changed it to 777.. i am sorry i am new to this part of the world.. what does ftp mean?

i have the host with me and we both are wondering how to resolve this issue. and i am the administrator.

Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

FTP is File transfer protocol, a standard for the exchange of program and data files across a network.

Its basically a programme that you can connect to your server with to upload / download and change files.

There are different ways to change the permissions FTP is just my preferred method as esmi said http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions is really useful on how to change permissions with different methods.
