Part of Twitter’s new system is that you have to authenticate requests. The only way to do this would be to create a list under your account containing that person, and then use that instead of the username.
Aaron: I tried making a list with just one person in it and changing the widget to use that list, but the feed still displays my own tweets. Is this a bug?
khromov: If you have a username AND a list selected, the username will take precedence. Make sure you have only selected a list.
I think that I may have the same problem… but how do I make a list or input the “@username” so that they will show-up on the widget in order to select them and show THEIR tweets?
Twitter has a help page that shows how to create lists:
https://support.twitter.com/articles/76460-how-to-use-twitter-lists
When you use the new version of the widget (2.5.0 or newer), you will see that there is a dropdown to choose an authorized username and a dropdown to choose a list associated with one of those usernames. Just choose a list and NOT a user to display tweets form that list.
THANK YOU! I have made the necessary changes… they are not working (as yet) on the page, but I assume that they will… THANK YOU for a WONDERFUL (and FREE) plug-in – AND thank you for taking the time to help those of us who (sometimes, desperately) need your assistance!!!
Hi,
First of all, a big thank you to the developer(s) of this wonderful plugin.
I am wondering whether there is there a way to add a list via shortcode?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have created a list, named it, then added the feed I want displayed in the Twitter Widget. I left the name field blank and added the listname to the list field. Unfortunately, it is not displaying the right feed! Any other suggestions?
Having the same problem as gagibert13 – Name field is blank, list field has the list selected but tweets belonging to the account are displayed, rather than those belonging to the list.
Same issue. And I discovered that if I mark the username as blank, the list choices disappear as well.
Yes same issue for me , cannot display the list, even though the username is empty in both default and the widget itself.
Yeah – pulling tweets from lists doesn’t seem to work….
