Subscribe2 – Comment notification doesn't work

    Hello!

    The Subscribe2 Plugin for my WordPress Blog generally works perfectly, all Subscribers get notified when I write a new post.

    But there is a problem: There is also the option to send notifications when users post a comment and set the checkbox in the comment form saying they want to receive following comments on the same post:

    “Check here to Subscribe to notifications for new posts”

    Unfortunately, this doesn’t work. Nothing happens when a user activates the checkbox when writing a comment. If it is a user which is not subscribed to receive notifications about new posts, his e-mail address does not appear then in any section of the “Subscribers” tab. When it is a user which is subscribed to my blog, of course the e-mail address is there already, but the user does not receive any e-mails on subsequent comments neither.

    Is there something extra I have to consider? As the Subscribe2 plugin offers this feature and it works very well for the general e-mail subscription exactly the way I want it to, I would really like to get it to work without having to change the subscribe plugin.

    Any idea what could be wrong?

    @sunny,

    “Check here to Subscribe to notifications for new posts” – is to sign up for notifications about new posts, not comments. For comment notifications you need another plugin, Subscribe2 is only for posts.

    Is there any chance that this could be added as a feature? We’re using WordPress for a system status blog, and we use comments to provide updates after the initial post. What we’d like to do is provide follow-up emails when we post comments.

    Great plugin – thanks for maintaining it and providing quick support.

    @mattyrob: Thank you! I misunderstood the feature (it was explained to me this way in the german wordpress forum).

    @jameskoole: I am using the plugin “Subscribe to Comments Reloaded” now: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/subscribe-to-comments-reloaded/
    It should be perfect for what you want. It even offers your users the possibility to follow comments without having to post a comment themselves.
