Need book, or good video tutorial on computerspeak
-
I’m a beginner at website building, and I’m finding a lot of the terminology baffling. I don’t have a clear idea of the structure and relationships between clients, hosts, servers, zootlewhirdles, etc.
For instance, when reading a page on ‘hardening WordPress’ today, sentences such as, ‘Any file that needs write access from WordPress should be writable by the web server, if your hosting set up requires it, that may mean those files need to be group-owned by the user account used by the web server process.’ … don’t mean much to me. Yes, I’m at THAT level!
I need a clearly written, step-by-step education on the basics of all this, so I can understand what’s written in the codex. A book would be good. Any recommendations?
Cheers,
MG.
