OK, so how do I get an apostrophe to show in my sidebar?
<?php wp_list_pages("exclude=17,18,22,23,24,25&sort_column=menu_order&title_li=<h2>Mr. H's Classes</h2>",'ID' ); ?>
It shows as Mr. H\’s Classes.
I’m sure it has to do with magic quotes being enabled on my server. Is there a way to stop it in this instance?

odd.
oh wait — my example is running 2.3.x, never mind
Fixed it by adding
$output = stripslashes($output);
after line 314 $output = apply_filters('wp_list_pages', $output); in post-template.php
$output = apply_filters('wp_list_pages', $output);
