• Please help! I was editing a post on my blog and suddenly the page re-directed to this message: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can’t connect to local MySQL server through socket ‘/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock’ (11) in /home8/travenf3/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1141

What does this mean? What do I have to do?

  • Does this message come up all the time, or is it only sometimes?

The most likely cause for this is that the connection between your web server and it’s database server has been broken when the query was being processed. If it happens every now and then, it’s bad but not as bad as it could be. If it happens all the time, then it’s more important. The only thing that you can do to fix this is contact your hosting company and get them to investigate why the connection was failing.
