• Hi,
    Site: http://go.os42.com
    I have been playing with a new layout and have reached a point where I am not sure how to fix a couple of little issues. I am always keen to work things out on my own but when all else fails yell HELPPPPPP.
    I have dropped a picture using the #rap div onto my main background and it is showing some kind of white border for some reason, even though there is no border there. It could be the background behind it but not sure why if so.
    I also have a problem with the footer area moving up and sliding over the same pic. If anyone has any ideas as to why this may be happening – please let me know. Any advice is much appreciated
    Thank you πŸ™‚

  • I cant see the effect descibed at least in FF.

    Hi !
    I see no white. In IE the lhs graphic is not fixed though, yet it is in FF .
    I do see the footer and right now, I can’t see a fix….

    shadow I think I am right in saying you are using something very close to the default template. There is for example no rap in the CSS. I can see a lot of borders set to 0px; they cant be doing any good. The footer is caused by our old friend the absolute positioned menu. πŸ™‚

    Sorry Root. I was not very specific. There is a white line showing against the left edge of the page behind the picture. I think it is behind the pic and not a border per se, but I cannot be certain. I am using FF too and I can see it. Maybe you thought it was part of the pic but it isn’t.
    The footer issue shows up more clearly when you go to say, the search page, and scroll up and down….

    Root: It is close to the default yes.
    I have this in my css.
    #rap {
    background: url(http://go.os42.com/wp-images/leftbg.png);
    background-attachment: fixed;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: top left;
    }

    Funny that you cannot see the line when I can on two separate machines.
    Podz: Thanks – I hadn’t opened IE yet, to have a look at what disasters lay ahead in there.

    I have that 1px white line visual now. Just checking.

    Can you take out all those borders solid etc in body?

    Taken out Root. I also tried putting in a black background behind the pic in rap but that overides the tiled background in body…

    The 1 pixel wide white line is part of the image itself. Maybe you didn’t crop the image quite right.

    Well we overlooked the obvious. Another timely intervention by muffinboy πŸ™‚

    Muffinboy: Thanks. I can’t believe I missed that. DOH!
    Root: This problem with the footer coming over the top. Is that the same as I always had on my other setup?
    Thanks for all the help….

    As always πŸ™‚

    No probs πŸ™‚
    But, the footer… I don’t see a footer in the current design at all, so I wonder what the problem exactly is.

    Mufinboy:Well this is no footer as in the normal appearance of a footer but it is there all the same. Look at how the background is pulled up and over the left pic which sits in the rap.
    I thought I may be able to sort it out but if Root is suggesting it is acting in the same way as past footers. I may have to rethink the design a bit.
    It’s all fun…

    Ah, now I see what you mean. I’m running at 1280×1024 and the image (the one that used to have the white line in it) doesn’t reach all the way down to the bottom of my browser’s viewport, so I didn’t see what you meant until I made my browser window smaller.
    Let me see…
