• Hello – I recently moved a wp site to a new host. When I moved it to the new host, I did have permission issues that I believe I have gotten set correctly. However, I have lost functionality of the widgets. The theme I was using had a default side bar screen, which I modified with moving around the different available widgets (text boxes, categories, etc). However on the new host, I can’t “drag and drop” the widgets, it defaulted back to the authors default side bar and I can’t change it. When I try to click and drag, the whole screen lights up like I am selecting text on the screen – hard to describe. I also cannot add new categories, the option just isn’t there. I moved another site with the same template and did not have these strange issues. Thanks in advance.

  • same problem here, i can’t edit or drag and drop any of the widgets now

I just fixed mine. The way I did is Installed java from Sun’s website.

PS. First of all try to turn on Javascript. Go to menu bar Tools/Internet Option/Security/ then select Internet/Custom Level, and Enable Active Scripting.

    Hi inntell,

Java has nothing to do with neither javascript or PHP. Most likely the thing that helped you was the change in active scripting which is an internet explorer option.

Personally I prefer firefox. They likely use different versions of javascript.

The issues noted above sound like a javascript issue but if it is indeed related to changing hosts I would suspect different versions of PHP or perhaps a difference in php safe mode operations. I have no answers here but wanted to correct the misinformation on Java being a solution to any problem noted above.

    Take care,
    Trip
