• Hello.

For copyright issues I’d like my links to videos NOT TO embed the video, but rather generate a thumbnail view that links (_blank) to the media on the external site (ie youtube).

    How can this be achieved?

My national association in charge of collecting musical work authors rights is pretty sadistic (even if in their full right), and my small music band can’t afford to pay the rights for “hosting” our own representations as a cover band :/

  • Do you mean you just want an image linked to the YouTube page? So the viewer would go watch it there?

    yes. exactly.

but as my editors are not really techies it would be great if they could simply copy-paste the url, as with the current oembed function.

any idea how I can turn a youtube video url into an image (thumbnail) linked to the YouTube page?
