• I updated to WordPress 3.5.1 and the option to enable Remote Publishing
via Atom and XML-RPC is no longer there.

Is this a “new” feature. I need remote publishing available on the options_writing.php screen. The solution should NOT be going into the SQL tables thru PHPAdmin…

    Please advise.

  • Yes, remote publishing option is missing from the latest wordpress version.
So, be on the lookout as plugin for this might be coming soon.

If the intent was to make Remote Publishing enabled by default, the check mark to enable XML-RPC on the original Remote Publishing option section should just have been implemented. The enable/disable XML-RPC value is stored in the mySQL table anyway so whatever setting is table-driven and could be stored/retrieved from there.

Why in the world would people remove the option to enable/disable remote publishing from the options_writing.php screen?

Now people who want to secure their wordpress sites from remote publishing would have to install the disable-xmlrpc plugin???

I would rather have remote publishing DISABLED by default – since enabling it would allow SPLOGGING by other account users who would otherwise have to manually login to the site.

If it is NOT broken, do NOT fix it.

Yes I do see this option is missing.
Most of the time I create draft posts using WLW and post to my blog remotely. No this is missing after upgraded to 3.5.1.
    Please suggest a solution.
