Gallery Path outside /wordpress/wp-content — is this still possible? | WordPress.org

I can’t imagine that in 2013 one has to modify a plugin for this but… http://code.google.com/p/nextgen-gallery/issues/detail?id=182 quite an old discussion and apparently it was working. Was this patch really never incorporated?

Regardless of what I put in “Path” NextGen always seems to look in /wordpress/wp-content. I work with a clean wordpress core and my wp-content is at /wp-content. Can I not just store the NextGen images in /gallery or something?

The answer is yes. You can use relative paths with ../ in the Path setting per gallery. If you still get a missing folder error, be sure to make the folder. NextGen will not create it for you upon changing the Path setting or uploading (though it should perhaps?).
