Can anyone help with this?
My site pages are still not showing up and I cannot figure out why. Can someone please help with this?
Why is no one responding to this post? I’ve searched for answers to this problem in troubleshooting and cannot find anything that’s similar. I haven’t made any changes to my dashboard or blog to cause this problem and I have no idea why it’s happening and no idea how to fix it. Please respond!
My site url is this: http://howisyourlovelife.com/blog/
I deleted a plug-in called “Hello Dolly” because I never installed it. All the other plug-ins have been there for over 2 years.
I looked at the hack help links above but the terminology goes right over my head- I’m very html etc. illiterate. For example, this:
>>>Check your .htaccess file for hacks.
>>>Hackers can use your .htaccess to redirect to malicious sites >>>from your URL. Look in the base folder for your site, not just >>>your blog’s folder. Hackers will try to hide their code at the >>>bottom of the file, so scroll down. They may also change the >>>permissions of the .htaccess file to stop newbies from editing the file. Change the permissions back to 644.
I could not find the .htaccess file. Base file? What/where is that?
Another suggestion says to look for code and delete what shouldn’t be there. Right. I have no idea how to do this.
Is there a reasonably priced and reputable service/person you can recommend to fix this problem for me?
I just scanned your site on Securi – and it does look like a hack:

I don’t know what they cost, but they are highly regarded, so that would be my recommendation. Good luck 🙁 .
You should also check with your hosting company – as hacks can come via a server hack.
You should always use security and backup plugins as hacking is more common than it seems.
WPyogi,
I just started on the steps you recommended and did the first one- deactivating all the plug-ins. The site came back up! I then reactivated them one by one and found the plug-in culprit: “spamcap.”
I should delete this plug-in and then change my passsword, correct? Does this mean my site was not hacked?
Thanks
It’s possible that you may be okay. Where did you get that plugin?
I don’t recall installing it, but I may have. If I did, I found it at least 6 months ago just by searching for plugins on WP to fight spam.
It does not appear to be on the repository here. What version of WP are you using? That theme is pretty outdated so that’s why I’m wondering.
I use 3.5.1.
The only way I’ve gotten plug-ins is to use the WP “search plug-ins” feature.
Okay, good on both – maybe that one was here in the past. At any rate, do make sure you don’t have any bad code in your site files.
Okay, thanks, but how do I make sure I don’t have any bad code in my site files?
