Editing Gallery / Album ID code??

Is there are way to change the gallery / album ID code? For example, if [ nggallery id=1] gets deleted, the ID number is also lost. Therefore, the next new gallery/album is [ nggallery id=2] even if there is only one gallery in the folder. Any assistance would be great! Thank you.
