Installing ClouSE: Is this something I'll have to ask my host permission for?

    You can run SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'plugin_dir'; in phpMyAdmin: pick “SQL” tab on the top toolbar, enter the text and click “Go” (under the query box on the right).

    You should check with your hoster to see if your plan allows you to setup a custom storage engine.

    So it’s up to them? That’s a pity. I’m sure they’ll just see it as loss of business.

    If you did it via Dropbox as a third option, that shouldn’t require clouSE right. It would be a good option for potential small-time users like us.
