    Hello,

After upgrading to WP 3.5.1, Buddypress to 1.6.4, I noticed that all of my secondary menus (Header and Footer) have disappeared. My main menu is still there.

I can see that the “ul” element that’s supposed to contain my header menu is being loaded, but it’s just not populating with the items I set from “Appearance/Menus” Note that I didn’t have any such issues until I upgraded WP and BP.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Not really sure if this would be an issue with the Theme itself, I did an upgrade too and as you can see that all menus are still there: http://themeid.com/demo/responsive/

    What’s the site please?

    HI Emil,

    Here’s the link

It could be a possible plugin conflict, so I’ll try to disactivate them.

    Will keep you posted. Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for the link, the problem might be with WP Super Cache, please clean the caching folder and check the menus. We received one too many issues with the content caching plugins lately and, not sure which, but one of them was causing the issues with the tinynav.

Hmmm, I tried clearing out the cache, but the menus are still not populating. i even tried disabling the wp-super-cache plugin, and that didn’t work either.

Ok, so if the problem seems to be with the tinynav, perhaps I can disable it to see if this is indeed indicative of the problem. In your opinion, what would be the best way to disable it?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

TinyNav is not associated with this.

So what I can suggest is to go to your custom menus and check the settings, just to make sure that there’re still there and keep the caching plugin off while doing this.

    Thanks,
    Emil

    Few more details:

    Going by this line

    <ul id="menu-secondary-menu" class="menu"></ul>

menu is either disabled from the Appearance > Menus, meaning that it’s there, but not activated.

    Same thing with the footer:

    <ul id="menu-footer-menu" class="footer-menu"></ul>

there’s nothing else in it. Menu was added to both, but no location specified I believe. Also note that this should not be affected with the WordPress upgrades, something else was interfering with both locations.

    Thanks,
    Emil

    Hi Emil,

I rechecked and re-saved my custom menus with the wp-super-cache off, but still no luck.

When you ran your own tests, are you also running Buddypress? I’ve been reading some other forum posts with people experiencing something similar. but with no solution, yet.

One weird behaviour I noticed was that when I removed the menu from the “Header Menu” location and left it blank, was that a menu would be populated, but this one would list every single page I have on my site. I have not coded anything nor have I set parameters in some plugin to make this behaviour occur anywhere, so I’m a little confused.

I’m currently checking to see if a plugin is causing the plugin; will keep you posted. Thanks for your attentive support.

    Hi,

I don’t have the BuddyPress or think that Theme by itself is compatible with BP, unless this is a custom made Theme that you have.

Something, other than Theme itself is removing the menus and I truly wish that I knew what it is. Can you get in touch with the developer of the Child Theme?

I downloaded the Child Theme example from your site. 🙂
    http://themeid.com/help/discussion/505/child-theme-example

You can pretty much make any site BP compatible by running their Template Pack.

I’m also running a whole bunch of plugins, so I’m still trying to deactivate each one at a time to see if that’s where the cuprit is.

I’ll also dig more on the BP forums to see if there are any other developments.

    Thanks again.

    please keep me posted 🙂
