Adding a downloadable file

Hi there,

I have a problem. I know how to add a downloadable file that displays a link that takes you to a page with the downloadable file on it. But what I would like to do is miss out the link so the user can download the file from the page he is currently on. Basically I would like to avoid the link part of adding a downloadable file so that the user can stay on the page, instead of being taken to another page which only has the downloadable file on it. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Is this possible to achieve?
