• I have a wordpress blog at http://www.bynw.com — there is a new comment needing approval. I click the approval link (in the comment or by the check box and then choosing the bulk action of approve) and the comment appears to be approved until I return to the main site. Where it again shows as needing approval.

I have all plugins deactivated save for the Askimet plugin to prevent spam comments.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello,
    perhaps a cache issue,
a post with a comment is this one.
It has a comment and must be approved:

Could not have said it much better. As a society we do not know what the 2nd amendment means or anything else referring to the bill of rights or the constitution…and that includes the lawyers.

If this is the comment you refer to, it is approved or else it would not be posted.

This is the post. http://www.bynw.com/2013/01/16/2nd-amendment-executive-orders/ That has an unapproved comment left on it. But I am not able to approve it.

Ok. If i go and edit the comment and change its status to approved in the edit screen it does get posted. However just clicking on the approve link in the dashboard appears to work until returning to the main page from the dashboard. Then the comment is still pending.

If you click your back button on the browser, it goes back, it does not reload, so the data is old.
this comment is approved and presented to the public:

I’m not sure what kind of readership you have on this thing, but you should let people know about the Guns Across America Rally happening this Saturday at all State Capitals – at 12 noon.

I have just submitted a test comment on that page.
The response is a white screen sitting at url: http://www.bynw.com/wordpress/wp-comments-post.php
Have you edited your comments form?
Do you have a comment related plugin?
have you tested submitting a comment yourself while logged out?

The only plugin I have active at the moment is the anti spam comment plugin of Askimet.

I saw your comment. On the dashboard I clicked on the link to approve it. It showed the comment as approved. Then I clicked on the dashboard link that returns me to the site. Not using the back button. And the comment again appeared in the admin bar showing it needed approval.

Disabled the Askimet plugin and the same results. The approval of the comment does not remain after leaving the dashboard page.

    Well, at this point…no idea.
When I approve a comment via the dashboard recent comments metabox.
the indicators both in the admin header and the comments item in the left side menu both update accordingly. This is done with javascript, so if it isn’t working for you, there may be a javascript issue with your browser, or it’s a cache problem.
Occasionally plugins can cause trouble although they are not even activated. To ensure no plugin interference you can change the name of the plugins folder temporarily to test.

Same Problem. I use only selfbuild plugins, could there be a bug with some comments? i just check the difference between working approvement and a not working approvement: when it works, the ajax-call return a long integer, i think its a timestamp. when it doent work, there is no return!
