I got this comment from a recipient this morning. “When I originally left a comment I appear to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on every time a comment is added I recieve four emails with the same comment. There has to be a means you are able to remove me from that service? Thank you!”

Is there any way to stop him from receiving duplicate emails.

    Thank you.

  • What plugin are you using to add this functionality to your site? It is not part of WordPress itself. First, identify what plugin you are using and then post in that plugin’s dedicated forum via its page in the Plugin Repository.

Thanks for the super quick response. I don’t think it is a plug in, all though it could be. I just have a post and a field that says leave a reply at the bottom. I am using a hosted version of wordpress. Thanks

Sorry? Is this a wordpress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress install?

It is a self-hosted WordPress install. I have a host company and I a friend built the site.

First, Thanks so much for your time. I know being busy it is difficult to help someone so I want you to know that I appreciate the sacrifice you are making.

I am NOT sending out comment notifications. I created several post. At the bottom of each post there is a box with the heading—–Leave a Reply—-at the top right above the box. Right now, I am looking at the post where I can edit it. It has a few options, Allow comments, Allow pings, These are checked. I did not check, Make the post sticky. Should I uncheck, Allow Pings?

    I am not sure,

    thanks

Pings are for YOU, not someone else.

I the front end of the site (where people actually fill in a form and leave a comment) is there a checkbox to somehow receive notifications of replies, or subscribe to the comments? If so, you’re using a plugin to allow people to do that. A standard WordPress installation does NOT notify other people when comments are posted. You have to use something else – a custom function or a plugin – to make that happen. Esmi’s just trying to sort out what you’re using that notifies visitors that comments to your site has been made.

I don’t see anything on your site that allows people to receive notifications when a comment is left on your site. After a quick search, it appears this is spam.

Doodlebee, Thank you so much. I thought it was spam but wasn’t sure. I just started my web page and thought I would make it public before I really promote it so I have a chance the work out the bugs like this one.

I checked out your bio with the plug in you made. It looks great. I hope you do well with it.

Thanks so much for your help. I do believe it is spam. Thanks for making this forum so great.
