• So I just installed WP and need to connect to my ftp so it can upload and update things. So I go here:

    Connection Information

To perform the requested action, WordPress needs to access your web server. Please enter your FTP credentials to proceed. If you do not remember your credentials, you should contact your web host.

    Hostname
FTP Username [Possibly sensitive info redacted]
    FTP Password
    Connection Type FTP

    Then I get this error:

Failed to connect to FTP Server

I know this is right, so why wont it connect? Do I have to ask my provider to allow WordPress to connect?

  • Don’t know if the password and username info you posted above was real, but if so, you need to immediately change your FTP and any other login information.

And if your FTP connection is not working, yes, you should contact your host.

    Its not real, but thanks…

Okay, phew, it happens around here… just wanted to play it safe :). Your host should be able to help you with this.
