Support » Installing WordPress » Homepage is blank, pages try to download instead of open.

  • I moved my site, but now I’ve got a blank screen for a homepage.

When I type in something specific, like acfunding.com/contact-us, it starts to download the php file rather than open the page.

PhpMyAdmin does this as well – when I click a link inside it wants to download it.

I double checked that I’d correctly linked the wp-config file to the imported database.

    Any idea what’s going here?

  • Looks like php may no longer be running. Contact your host and see if they can get you going again.

Just as a precaution, once you get up and running again, you may want to change your database credentials just to be super safe.

My host insisted php was up to date and running. But everything I’m researching looks like there’s a problem with it, or the apache commands. I’m not sure what my next step should be.

Ask your host their preferred method for enabling php for your web space.

You’re using IIS 6 (windows server) so they may have some specific instructions or information that will help you enable it.

Better yet, ask them to do it for you.

[edit] ..also ask what version of php is available. That could be an issue if it’s a version that isn’t supported by WordPress 3.5
