Help! Sometime yesterday I lost all access to my site. Didnt do anything – was there 1 minute, then gone.

    http://www.dirckthenoorman.com

Here’s what the page now says:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at 69.80.208.158. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

All the files are still on the server and appear in order (checked via FTP).

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • This is usually a problem with your server especially if everything was working OK, and not WP, could be just resetting or down for maintainance etc…. usually returns after a while, but if it keeps happening report to your hosting provider.

thanks – you were right – it was a host problem. They (Webstrike) have fixed it now. Here is their expl:

“I have changed your configuration to use localhost rather than utilize network traffic for a local connection and this now works. The reason for the outage is a change in the default permissions used by mysql after a service level upgrade.”
