• I recently changed from the Headway framework with a static home page. I deleted the static home page and also removed it from the menu. I then renamed the blog index page, “Home” (originally named “blog” in the Headway framework). So when I switched themes to “Lazy Sunday”, it kept the page labeled “Home” but there’s no content on it. I’m afraid to delete this page because it was originally the blog index when I used Headway.

How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’d also like to know how to add an image below the header as shown in the demo version of Lazy Sunday. I didn’t see anything in the customize php for that image inclusion. Thanks!

Hi Carrie! You can delete the static home page, it won’t delete your blog.

And you can add a header image by going to Appearance -> Header in your Dashboard.

Yes, I deleted the static home page successfully. But when configuring the site through the Headway network, I had changed the name of the blog index – originally called Home – to simply blog. When I changed themes, I had two “homes” so deleted the static home with no issue. But now I have the home – as per my blog index via the old framework – and this is the one still showing in the navbar. If I delete this second home page, will the blog posts remain intact? And is it okay to delete this off the menu too? Thank you for helping me to quench my fears 🙂

Per adding an image, will this keep the original header and simply add the image below it?

Hi there I dont have much to add in the way of advice as I am slightly confused by your description of events but can I just say that I think you should backup your site so that you can restore stuff if it goes wrong. I sort of understand your question but it is confusing and if someone mistakes what you are saying and gives advice based on a misunderstanding it could leave you in the lurch. Hopefully you can use the admin controls of your websites control panel to backup all your wordpress installation. That way if you delete the wrong thing or rename it wrongly or something like that you will be able to restore everything.

I’m not sure what the Headway network is, but your blog posts will only be deleted if you delete from Posts. It sounds like you need to edit your site’s custom menu under Appearance -> Menu and delete the Home menu item. That won’t delete your posts.

If that’s not what you’re referring to, can you link to a screenshot to illustrate the problem?

And Appearance -> Header will add the header image underneath the site title and navigation, as seen on the demo:

Thank you for clarifying the addition of the image to the header. I’m waiting to backup my site before I delete the home page that stuck around once I changed my blog framework. May I ask one more question? How do I disable comments on individual pages? I tried the screen options but it wasn’t checked there. Thank you for your continued patience!

Go to Pages in your Dashboard, then click the Quick Edit link underneath each page on which you want to disable comments. Uncheck the Allow Comments box, then hit Update. Hope this helps!

Thank you, Caroline! I didn’t know about this feature in the dashboard – fabulous and easy!
