Hello. I’ve been troubleshooting my WordPress Site for several hours now trying to find a solution to my brand new:

“Error Parsing URL: Error parsing input URL, no data was scraped.”
    Facebook Error.

This can be found here – https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.incisionmedia.com%2Fmagazine%2F

After reviewing all of my code, swapping out plug ins, etc. – turns out it’s your fantastic plugin. I browsed your Support Forum to no avail – I seem to be the only user with this error AFTER UPDATING.

The easiest way to fix this error would be to revert to an older version of your plug-in, because until now it was working splendid. I’ve even tried reverting my WordPress to older versions (not safe and not suggested to most new users).

Where can I find a database that contains older version of your plug-in? This would be the quickest fix to a high bandwidth site like mine.

I’m interested in troubleshooting the plug-in as well, assuming you know where to start. I would have a backup – but you always find issues after overwriting. Thanks!

I have found my solution in the Developers panel.
In there they have all previous versions of the plugin ready for download.

    I am running WordPress 3.5
I have sampled this error with WordPress 3.5 & 3.4.2 – reverting my copy of WordPress to further troubleshoot the issue. If your reading this – I suggest running your website through facebook’s debugger, found here:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

I had to revert all the way back to version 5.0b2 – this means somewhere in the development of this Plugin – a feature has been implemented that interferes with the Facebook Open Graph Protocol.

YES – I have turned off all other plugins and Left Events Manager On!
Even under this condition, the Open Graph protocol returned a “Error Parsing URL”. This means your website is not sharing Images, Description, Titles, or any other OG Metas to Facebook. As a social media driven company – this is very bad.

I wouldn’t rule out Theme Interference with the plugin – but the plugin works splendid on an earlier version, which causes me confusion. I wish everyone else the best of luck using this tool – and would love some insight from the developers, as I considered paying for the full version — but am now pushed away from using it, not sure of social media participation of other users and advancement of those necessary features.

I’m not aware of anything we’d do to interfere with FB stuff… however, I do see one potential problem in the FB link you gave:

All the images referenced by og:image should be at least 200px in both dimensions. Please check all the images with tag og:image in the given url and ensure that it meets the recommended specification.

could it be that your image is just too small (I see it’s named 100×100).

also, did you try testing this with the default WP theme?

It’s appearing as 100×100 because of the NextGen Facebook OG Plugin. The original image is 200×200 – although this has nothing to do with my problem. This was troubleshooted prior, that lint is up to date on an earlier version of the plugin.

All versions of the Events Manager Plugin post 5.0b2 trigger a:

“Error Parsing URL: Error parsing input URL, no data was scraped.”

…in the facebook debugger. Yes – I’ve tried installing versions post 5.0b2 without any other plugin activated – including NextGen Facebook OG Plugin – on two versions of WordPress (3.5, 3.4.2). The error still remains. As mentioned in my original 2 two posts (yesterday), my image cropping wasn’t the solution – but rolling back plugin versions. My site NOW has a working facebook OG lint (after downgrading Events Manager), I run a business and can’t meddle with my facebook sharing without diminishing shares.

So anyone using my Industrial Theme (perhaps any Industrial Theme) may be suffering the same issue. Maybe it’s Bluehost. I’d be interested in seeing a re-occurrence, or knowing what was added to the plugin post 5.02b –

    Thanks for the reply though.

For finding out what was added, you could try doing a diff here –

What are you using to create the Facebook open graph info?
