WordPress and SSL

    We are installing an SSL certificate on a domain that has a WordPress installation. The SSL, however, is not intended for WP. Do we have to worry about any issues that might arise as a result of installing the certificate on the server? Does WP function as usual or do we need to configure something?

    Just to clarify again, we don’t want to use Wordress in SSL. I just want to know if installing the certificate will affect WP.

    SSL shouldn’t cause your site any problems. Our company just implemented a Symantec SSL and we didn’t experience any problems. I would suggest that you get an SSL manager plugin for the site that will restrict the pages that are loaded through an SSL to just payment an information pages. It will speed your site up considerably.

    Thank you for your response. So if I understand you correctly, after SSL is installed, WordPress will load normally and I won’t have to change any settings?

    As far as I know, nothing will change. But there may be problems with speed and plugins that call for files outside of WordPress if you do not limit the number of SSL enabled pages. I highly suggest installing a plugin and managing SSL that way.

    As long as you have not configured WordPress to use SSL then it will stick with just plain http.

    If you want to use SSL and WordPress together then that will require some configuration and possibly a plugin.

    Thank you for clarifying this. As I said, we do not intend to use https with WordPress, so I”m glad to hear everything will function as normal without any additional settings.
