• I tried many social sharing plugins, and got tired of the loading time. This plugin is very quick to load visually (it might just take longer for the counters to show up), so it’s so much better than most of the other plugins in my opinion.
The only two problems I have are these :
    – The Facebook counter is displaying shares, not likes. That’s a big difference…
    – You can’t choose not to display the social links on the homepage, search results, archives, etc. from within the plugin. You have to do it manually for the time being.
For these reasons, I stopped using the plugin for now, and I can’t put more than 3 stars. But if these get fixed, this plugin might very well deserve a 5.

    Hi Quentin,

Thanks for the frank review and the appreciation.

The facebook count displays shares and not likes because of the restrictions put by facebook on customising the like button. Luckily for us, this has changed and soon we will be able to have the like functionality. If we used the like button like other plugins, we’d have to load facebook’s js and other markup, which’d have defeated the core value of the plugin.

As for the manual placement vs placing the links via options, we left it like that for the time being, so one could customise it whichever way they feel right. However, the demand for such setting has stepped up recently and we’ll definitely add it soon.

Now, as soon as we do these and more as seen here: https://github.com/rtCamp/rtsocial/issues?state=open, I’m sure we can lure you back to the plugin and get the 5 stars! 🙂

    Thanks again for the feedback.

I really hope you’ll sort the “like” issue, as in my case that’s the only thing preventing me from using your otherwise awesome plugin.
The manual placement is not a problem for me, but it can be for other users.
I look forward to use your plugin again, and raise my grade 🙂
Keep up the good work !
