Making it easier to edit a large collection

I have a collection of almost 500 quotes, 23 pages. I decided I needed to add a tag to some as an identifier for a display within a post.
The admin interface makes this very clumsy. I had to find each quote one-at-a-time, paging through every page. When I found the quote I wanted to edit, it then returned me back to page 1, with all of my sorting options reset. It’s very tedious to redo everything.
A couple of suggestions:
All the user to return to the page in which the quote was loaded, not always back to page 1;
Remember sort orders. Don’t always reset everything when a quote is edited;
Allow the user to display more quotes on each page in the admin panel;
Have a more comprehensive pagination button system – allow users to enter a page number, not force them to click next or back many, many times to get to a page in the middle.The widget works, but has proven rather awkward without a slicker user interface.
