Do I still need to use a SMTP plugin when the email account hosting elsewhere?

    Hi

    Because of our host company we have on a previous WordPress website used the WP Mail SMTP plugin.

    On our new site the emails are being hosted elsewhere and they have just changed the IP for the Domain to point to us, MX with them I think.

    Would we still need to use the SMTP plugin as we are not hosting the email account?

    I have tried just putting in the email address within the admin and nothing is sent, or atleast nothing is received. But as the email is hosting elsewhere I don’t see why SMTP would be required?
