    when i click the icon it takes me to MY gmail email account (logged in with different email account….different@gmail.com)it does not take me to a new email page with myemail@gmail.com in the “to;” section.

    That’s the way a mailto: link works (regardless of how it’s added to the web page).

    No, you have to fill in:

    mailto:<your e-mail address>

    Hope it helps you!

    (When you only fill in the e-mail address it won’t work. You must start with mailto:.)

    thanks for all the replies. at first it was not opening a mailto: box but rather my inbox of my account. I got it fixed. Thank you.

    Ron, Are you part of StudioPress? Can you add a Etsy icon to the list of simple social icons?

    @wvanderzee – the link was mailto:<your e-mail address>

    & when you click on said link it does open your mail program.

    little question about this plugin: is it possible to encode the “mailto” against spamming? I tried to fill it in but plugin removes code…

    is it possible to encode the “mailto” against spamming?

    Im not aware of any way to prevent a script from picking up a mailto: link and sending spam to it.

    with the plugin email address encoder all email addresses are encoded, although the address in social icons plugin not.
    Surely the email address encoder doesn’t stop 100% of spamming, but if it is 98% it is good enough…

    or more info about encoding email addresses you find HERE

    The plugin using a font to show the icons. If the icon is not in the font, there’s no way to include it in the future.
