Have any of you designed themes using Dreamweaver? I’m curious because I’m looking to upgrade my Adobe software and would like to know if there are any compatibility issues before I spend the money.

  • Yes, but I only used the texteditor within Dreamweaver =).
But in short, yes it’s possible. Just use dummy text and lists and replace those with the appropriate codes afterwards when the theming is done.

You can design but you cannot edit WP files (only in code mode).

For the design part, you can use whatever you want, as ling as the result is HTML. To port a design to WordPress, you will need to edit the files with a plain text editor, which dreamweaver has built in, so you should be fine.
Also, I believe you can download a demo version of dreamweavr, so you might want to play around with it a bit before purchasing

Thank you all for your help. 🙂 I downloaded the demo yesterday and am experimenting with the interface. I’ll test this out with a dummy blog first.

    Thanks again!
