Widgets don’t work in 2.2
-
I just installed WP 2.2, but choosing the Widget tab under Presentation produces a blank screen. Any ideas much appreciated.

What theme are you using?
I’m using RockinRedhead 1.1 (widget-ready and working fine under 2.1.3). A quick check suggests the problem is the same for Default 1.6 and other themes.
I moved the auttomatic widget plugin out of my plugins folder (it was already deactivated) and that seems to have fixed the problem.
Where did you move it to?
From other threads, it seems you can just delete that plugin.
Okay, thanks… 🙂
Ive updated to 2.2 and use the “new widgets ” I find they dont update automatically ,,,
Im using Cutline 1.1 and I just made a change in my widgets ( moments ago) and refreshed the page ,, no changes
weird ,,
I wish I could use Auttomatic again
How is this resolved?? I used a brand new install of 2.2.2 and the Ocean3 1.0 theme. The widgets don’t move. The error console on Firefox tells me a few things that might be of interest:
1. Error: missing ) after argument list Source File: http://www.XXXXXX.org/wp-includes/js/prototype.js?ver=1.5.0-0

This is the important error:
1. Error: missing ) after argument list Source File: http://www.XXXXXX.org/wp-includes/js/prototype.js?ver=1.5.0-0
That means that you either have the wrong version of prototype.js in your installation, or the file is somehow corrupted. Redownload a fresh copy of WordPress and replace that file in your installation with the correct one.
All the other errors stem from that main error.
Now THAT’S what I call resolved! Replaced protoype.js and did a CTRL-R on the widgets page and there we are! You rule. Seriously. I am going to hang out on your blog, find out where you live (so far I know it’s somewhere in the South West) stalk you, find you, and buy you a beer.
Thanks Otto!
Memphis, and I never turn down a free beer. 😀
