i’m not an expert but it looks like the blog url http://jobs.brajeshwar.com/ is a sub-domain (well, for my host anyway). that means you might have installed WP under the folder “jobs” which acts as a subdomain in your directory.
you could contact your host to clarify
Well, http://*.mydomain.com/ is always a sub-domain.
And not, my WP is not installed under Jobs.
I know what I did and I’ve stated very clearly above.
I also know how to install WP anywhere on my domain and make it work from any location within that domain.
The issue is — I just cannot carry around the cookie — I want this as I want to remain logged in
(a) to do admin stuffs
(b) comments under the registered username
Brajeshwar, I am also having this problem now in 2.3.1 (I recently upgraded from 1.something). I agree that the problem resides with the cookie not being recognized outside of your /jobs/ folder.
I am having a similar problem where my root directory isn’t being recognized as part of my wordpress folder cookie (all of the cookies are saying they are valid only for /wordpress/). I’m not sure how this was broken yet, but as a temporary fix, I’ve had to put both my “blog address” and “wordpress address” options under the options >> general page to being within the same directory (IE, my index.php is now within the /wordpress/ folder).
Basically, the information at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory isn’t working for me…
Is there anyone that can let me know how to adjust where the cookie is valid?
Well, Brajeshwar’s problem is/was that WP “hates” the redirected subdomains. If you have a real subdomain (vs. fake subdomain) it works.
I have on a domain this setting:
root = WP install
root/subdir1 = another WP install
root/subdir2..3..4 = several WP installs
subdomain.domain = another WP install
subdomain2.domain/subdir = another WP install
They ALL work properly – since none of the subdomains are redirected anywhere. They exist as their own entity.
All the cookies are working as they are supposed to.
