I’ve got Magic Fields version 1.5.8.3 and WordPress version 3.5, and every time I try to upload an image with the standard WordPress image uploader, I get this message: “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.” Magic Fields is the only plugin active on the site, and when I deactivate Magic Fields, the uploader works fine.

  • Yes…same problem here. Hoping someone has a fix 🙁
    I’m using Magic Fields 2

Edit – This is only happening when using the new WP media upload. Using a custom image upload field still works fine.

    Same problem here as well.

A fix has been posted but is it only for MF version 2? Can it be applied to version 1?

EDIT: YES, it can be applied to version 1. The code chunk is the same.

    I’m not sure – is there a main.php file for version 1?
I don’t know how different they are.
If there is, I’d suggest opening it up and seeing if you can find a line that is similar to what they modified.

Or you can hit them up on twitter, they were super fast in responding to me. here’s a link to their site and their twitter/emails:

The fix posted above does work for Magic Fields 1 as well. Look for line 313 in the main.php file.

I am still experiencing this and other weird file field issues on the newest version with WP 3.5.

Image Media fields seem to work until you try to insert the image into the field – i.e. clicking ‘Insert into Field’ on the media library thickbox. I see the AJAX call go through but the thuckbox never disappears and the image is never fully inserted into the field.

On file upload fields I only get the error: ‘You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.’ – There is no button to insert a file.

I tried loosening permissions on the mf_cache folder thinking that could be it – but that’s at 775 with the same errors. Any insight?
