BUT it does not display an image thumbnail on the podcast in iTunes.
The RSS image and the iTunes:image are only for feed reader software or podcast repositories like the iTunes Store. Both image are not visible in the list of subscribed podcasts in the iTunes client software.
If you want to lead your episodes and the feed appear with an image then you need to add a cover image to each media file. Only the cover image is visible in that list.
You can add such an image for instance with the iTunes client software on your computer (I’m not sure about the version on Apple mobile devices).
Hi guys, bit confused – having the same problem with Podpress.
I am uploading cover art to each file using iTunes before uploading to my server. I can see that it’s done so successfully by clicking the ‘Show ID3 Tag Info’ button in the back end. I am also adding the cover art as the featured image on the accompanying WordPress post.
I emailed iTunes about this and they said: “You need to upload the image to your server and add the <itunes:image> tag at the item level in your rss feed. (the same as you would for the series) “
Looking at my feed at http://www.benzmixes.com/feed/, I can see that <itunes:image> does not appear anywhere in it – and it’s not an option in the iTunes Specific Settings that appear when you add a file to a post via Podpress.
How can I add this?
I am having a similar issue. My podcast is playing audio files correctly and refreshing. But I still can’t get the image to show up in iTunes. It has been at least three days. I am running it through feed burner and here is my feed burner link http://feeds.feedburner.com/UnveilChurchPodcast
The original feed from wordpress/podress is http://unveilchurch.org/feed/podcast/
I have the feedburner link pointing to feed in podpress via iTunes:New-Feed-Url and again it refreshes and updates audio but still no image. The image shows up in the feeburner feed but still not in iTunes.
Am I missing a step? Thanks in advance.
