Title Tag

I would like to make the output more SEO friendly.
Can you help me to include the title html tag to every linked Article Title?

For example

I have tried to edit a template like this:
$readable .= '<div class="title"><a title='.$items["mytitle"].' '.$openWindow.' href='.$items["mylink"].' '.($noFollow==1 ? 'rel=nofollow':'').'>'.$items["mytitle"].'</a>';

But then it only displays my title tags like this:
<a title="first_word" any other words are outside the two "" ></a>

Can you help me to fix this?
