• Well, I’ve been merrily WordPressing for a month now with a minimum of trouble. Even did multiple blogs using the one database table.
However, things have seemed to have gone awry yesterday, as I now get the:
Error establishing a database connection message.
I haven’t changed anything, and when I log into my hosting control panel and view the mySQl admin, the database seems to be running as I can run query’s on it…
Now, I know absolutely nothing about mySQL and PHP (and to WordPress’s credit – even a newb like me could get it running), so I’m at a loss as to what to do next.
Poking around in the mySQL admin, I did come across the following, but don’t know if it’s relevant:
    Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.5.3
MySQL 3.23.58 running on localhost as …
    (this at the bottom):
    Error

  • If it was good, and now it is not, and you have not altered your wp-config.php file, email the host and ask them what they have done.
