Plugin Organizer conflicts with NextGen Gallery :(

    Hello Jeff,

    First of all: excellent plugin! It really helps organizing and speeds up the site.
    My only problem: NextGen Gallery stopped working. I went down the deactivate all plugins route to find the one that causes the conflict and I found out that it is Plugin Organizer.

    This is 100% sure I have to say because:

    1. All plugin deactivated = NextGen works
    2. All plugin activated except Plugin Optimizer = NextGen works
    3. All plugin activated including Plugin Optimizer = NextGen dead
    4. All plugin deactivated only Plugin optimizer activated = NextGen dead

    The error message I get when I try to use NextGen’s settings via the admin panel and the two plugins clash is:

    ‘You don’t have permission to view this page’

    Can you please help, as I would like to keep both plugins!

    What version of NextGen are you running and which version of plugin organizer are you running? I’m running NextGen 1.9.7 and Plugin Organizer 2.5 and I’m not having any issues. Do you have “admin areas” under “selective plugin loading” set to enable on the plugin organizer settings page? If you do set it to disable and see if you still get the error.

    Brilliant, problem solved!
    Yes, it was on enabled and I set it to disabled and now both plugins work fine.

    Ok so that means that you had NextGen disabled in global plugins or through the URL admin. If you still want to disable plugins on the admin you just need to uncheck the box on the global plugins page or in the url admin so it doesnt get disabled. Of course you may want it disabled on the front end and not the back. To do that you just need to disable NextGen globally and then add the admin urls under url admin and enable NextGen for those urls. Hope that makes sense.

    Erm, I am not sure I understand Jeff 🙂

    With NextGen, I want it to not load on certain pages and load on other pages. I need it in the back and to organize photos.

    So what I have set it to is:

    1. selective plugin loading: enabled
    as far as I understand this means the front end, I tell which plugin to load on which page
    2. admin areas: disabled
    and this is the back end, all plugins work from the admin panel

    Is that correct?

    Yes that is correct. I was just trying to explain how to disable plugins on the back end without breaking NextGen gallery. But it looks like you don’t need that feature so its best to leave it off. Most people don’t need that feature. I needed it for one site and that is why I added it in.

    yes thank you Jeff,

    It all became clear by now. When I had the Admin Areas enabled, I had NextGen and a contact form plugin selected on the Global Plugins page, which means they don’t load unless I enable them individually on a page. Which i did, enabled the contact form plugin on the page where my contact form is, and enabled NextGen on another page where some galleries were placed.
    when I wanted to upload new photos to the gallery, I noticed that NextGen doesn’t work, which was a direct result of my own settings. If I had wanted to edit my contact form, I would have experienced the same error. All the other plugins were working, because they were not ticked on the Global Plugins page.
    I think I am now a Plugin Organizer expert 😛
