Exclude certain posts via short code

Is it possible to exclude certain posts in the archive via short code, or do you have to use the template tag for that?

If you can’t use the short code: Is there a way/hook to change the arguments from the functions.php? This would avoid changing the template file(s) if you work with a child theme.
