  • I’m sorry if this has been repeated, but I have had no luck looking for something similar. My header div is set to have a certain background colour. The colour shows up perfectly in IE; Ironically, it is in Mozilla where I’m getting a line of white. Any ideas?

  • Adding this may help:
    margin:0;
    to your h1 statement ?

    With regard to your question, I don’t know where to start. The base CSS file has a credit on it:

    You’re following in the footsteps of someone who obviousley does not have a clue, either. There’s just no way you’re going to be able to do anything with that mess you’re working from.
    The default WordPress CSS file was put together by Dave Shea, a world renowned designer– and there are other style sheet templates, such as those that Root http://www.atthe404.com/blog/ has developed, that will get you further, and faster toward something that works, than down the drain you’re heading now.

    And, no– not even putting
    margin:0;
    to your h1 statement .

    Odd… it works here in the FF devbar…..

    Yes, I know.

    So.. In other words, I should use only templates made by prominent wordpress-ers (if there’s such a word) as a base for development? Thank you SO much.
    I’ll look at the CSS and try to figure it out. Hmm.. What’s the FF devbar?

    @ pvican – I hope you do not feel you have had a bit of a rough ride here. Folks are trying to help and a couple of guys have pitched in here who do know a lot about this subject. It is an exceptionally difficult task for any of us to talk you step by step through a recovery from where you are now. But what I can tell you is even if you do fix up the h1 which isnt difficult that you have a lot of problems to come.
    The template you are using is very badly fractured in a lot of respects,
    and is going to give you no end of problems in a lot of browsers. You (and possibly we) are going to become engaged in endless positioning fire fighting. I have spent some time reading some of your blog. You will find a very warm and supportive community here. You have been given a couple of urls here which could really help. If you get stuck do post again. Best Wishes. Root.

    It renders correctly in IE because IE is ignoring something that Mozilla/Firefox and Opera do not. If you really want to fix the problem, start by trying to isolate it. Place /* and */ around CSS properties (from body { to }) on each tag/class/ID until the problem goes away.

    @root- I guess I was rather abrasive in that last post; Yes, I am aware of the nature of the community, being here for sometime (asking for help, more likely than not! ^.^”) I guess I bristled when I was told I spent the past few days wasting my time.
    But really, what is the FF devbar? I am a MSN Explorer user (for convinience), but have Mozilla installed to try ensure I can attain cross-browser functionality.
    Thanks!

    @ willnea I don’t like the colors much 🙂 A really nice piece of work which hopefully will encourage our friend pvicnan here. 🙂

    Hmm.. That’s almost the Gemini CSS isn’t it? Well, a similar problem occured as when I tired Gemini; My site more or less broke! *sheepish* I must have done something to break all the positioning..
    Well, I’ll look at it some time, when I’m not supposed to be finishing a pile of homework for sch the next day.. ^.^” Alas.. being a student..
    Thanks!

    pvicnan. When you get through your homework you are going to have to fess up. Have you been fiddling with the layout? Just a bit ? If you refit Gemini we can help if it breaks. 🙂

    Well.. I didn’t touch the layout, but I think I severely butchered my index.php

    Ahhhhhhhhh. 🙂
