Compatibility with Chat plugin

Has anyone been able to make this plugin work with Chat Lite (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/chat/)?

The avatars on their chat show the default ones instead of User Photo’s.
Ive been trying to find out what the incompatibility is without success so far.

They do make a call to get_avatar, but though something like this:
get_avatar($row->avatar, 50, null, $row->name);
Maybe thats the problem?

Any help is much appreciated.
