Wierd styling problem when installing on localhost using xampp | WordPress.org

Everything works fine until I open up the install page. All of the HTML elements are there, but none of the styling loads. I can even finish the install, but then the blog is just HTML. No css loads at all.

I’m installing wordpress in htdocs/blog.

Hmm. When you view the source for those pages, what URL is given for the CSS in the <head> area?

This was in the header: https://localhost/blog/wp-admin/css/install.css?ver=3.4.2

Could it be because of the HTTPS? Your browser may be not loading the CSS since the SSL cert couldn’t be verified.

Try setting the site and blog URL to http://localhost/blog (instructionshttp://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#WordPress_address_.28URL.29

I defined the site and blog url in the wp-config.php file. The install page now has styling. Everything else is still broken though.

I fixed the problem by completely removing and reinstalling xampp.
