• Some of the pages on my website have suddenly decided to stop loading/opening. I’ve cleared my cache/history, and even tried putting one of the pages in trash and reloading the contents on a fresh page, and it still won’t open.

On the menu of this page http://myperfectpitch.com/book-publishers-accepting-submissions-by-category/ the problem pages are Adventure Book Publishers to Black Book Publishers, and Design Book Publishers to Education Book Publishers.

The pages won’t even load from my WordPress pages dashboard. The only way I can access the contents of the problem pages is through editing. What’s gone wrong, and how can I fix it?

    try:

    – re-saving your permalink structure in wp-admin > Settings > Permalinks. Or put the permalink structure to the default structure for testing.

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder from a fresh download of WordPress. by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides (Manual Update).

I’ve tried re-saving permalinks No luck.

Deactivate all plugins, switch themes, re-upload all files and folders! Are you SERIOUS! If WordPress suddenly decides not to load some of my pages for no apparent reason, I can imagine the kind of hellish mess it will make of my site mucking around with these sort of things.

Its easier and far safer to build replacement pages with slightly different permalinks. Yet again I rue the day I didn’t invest in Dreamweaver and instead settled for this freebee piece of junk to build my website. Its been nothing but trouble. Thanks at least for having a go keesiemeijer.

    No problem.

I can imagine the kind of hellish mess it will make of my site mucking around with these sort of things.

Try at least de-activating all plugins and switching to the default theme. These are basic troubleshooting steps to see where the problem comes from.

All software has a learning curve, free or not. If something breaks it’s part of this learning curve. And yes, sometimes software breaks without an apparent reason. That’s why we troubleshoot.
