Can't open WordPress

I’m a newbie, and just downloaded WordPress with the hopes of creating a website. After 2 hours or so, I have not yet been able to open it. After the download, no icon appeared on my desktop (Windows 7) and it doesn’t show up under ‘Start’, ‘Programs’. And, I went into Explore, found the WordPress folder but can’t find an executable file that will open it. What did i do wrong?

I have read those directions, as well as those relating to downloading in a Windows environment. I thought when I completed the download that I was in WordPress, but I unfortunately closed that window and have been unable to reopen it. That’s what I was hoping you could tell me, I am not a computer person, but just a novice. I thought that WordPress was user friendly for people like me. I did read the pages you suggested but am not sure about implementing them. Thanks for trying to help me.

WordPress is not a program you install on your computer. You install the files on a web server. I highly suggest reading the links again that songdogtech posted, however, in my opinion I believe your best option is to use http://wordpress.com .

CedarPointConcepts, Thanks for your comeback. I guess I’m in over my head. I probably should have spent the afternoon watching football rather than trying to apply my efforts toward building a website.

Larry005: Just go to http://wordpress.com and get a free WordPress website. It’s an easy walk through. Nothing to downoad or install on Windows. It’s easier than trying to figure out a ref’s decision on a blown call that decides a game.
