• My site (http://www.subnoise.es) has been down for a whole day. When I was saving a post it stopped working until now.

The message shown is “Cannot find server or DNS Error”, and I’ve tried almost everything. The WP is installed on the root and doesn’t work, but i.e. http://www.subnoise.es/foro does work, and even http://www.subnoise.es/test.php

So I asked the hosting and they told me they didn’t change anything and sent me back here. I’ve tried to update WP with no success. I’ve tried to install a new WP in http://www.subnoise.es/web with no success. I still get the same message after waiting a minute or so.

I didn’t switch off the plugins because I couldn’t get into the admin, but even if I rename the plugins folder does not work.

Any clue? What can I try now?

  • Sorry, I miss understood the problem when I first replied, so this is heavily edited.

I’m not seeing any DNS error here, it just times out. I can only suggest checking the wp-config.php file and checking the database details (particularly the host) are correct.

Ok, I’ll look for it when I get home and I’ll let you know… The thing is that I didn’t touch that file so if anybody has any other suggestions they’ll be welcome

I checked the wp-config.php file and it was alright. Could it be a blocked table? Is there a way to search for / fix blocked tables through the phpMyAdmin?

    Wait! Suddenly it works…

    I did 3 things:
    – Upload again wp-config.php (but it was the same, I promise)
    – Rename the forum folder (phpbb)
    – Export the DB (I was going to start dropping tables)

So.. which one do you think it fixed the problem? I bet the forum thing…

Perhaps it was a corrupted wp-config.php file, idk.

I doubt the fix was related to phpBB, and I also doubt exporting the DB would fix anything, so I guess something wp-config related must have been amiss.

I am getting this error when trying to access the web:
    C:\Windows\System32\Shdoclc.dll\Dnserror.htm

The the message I get is Page cannot be displayed. I have re-loaded Windows 2000 Professional, but I still get this message. When I virus scan, I get Windows\System32\Config not scanned <in use by another application>?????

Any suggestions on how to fix this?
